Denise L. Pickett-Bernard, PhD, RD, LD is currently a private practitioner providing public speeches and private consultations on nutrition and wellness. She has appeared on television as a nutrition expert. She holds a degree from the Culinary Institute of America, a BS in Food Service Management, and an MS in Food Science and Nutrition from the University of Rhode Island. While working full time at Johnson & Wales University, she earned a PhD from Barry University studying factors which affect weight control maintenance. She has been married for 18 years and has two children whom she home schools.
