Details: This curriculum is designed to teach food safety as extension science activities in middle and high school classes. The main concept is to use food to engage students' interest in science while using science to teach students the importance of food safety. A combination of fun facts, hands-on activities, and an interactive video (featuring Dr. X the savvy food scientist), links the science of food safety to students' everyday lives.
Solange Bushra Wasef MS, RD is a Registered Dietitian with dual bachelor's degrees in biochemistry and chemistry who graduated with honors. She also has earned her master's degree in nutritional science. Currently, she is a lecturer at California State University, Los Angeles. She also is involved in promoting nutrition education as well as performs counseling in the areas of weight management.
