Jamberry
Jamberry, Jamberry is a joyful berry frenzy.
Every once in a while a children's book comes along that you know will become
a classic favorite. Jamberry is just such a book. Rhythmic and joyful, Jamberry
is a poetic story of a bear and his young human friend who frolic through a magical
berry land in their quest to make jam. Bruce Degan's whimsical verse and illustrations
captivate young readers. Some berries your child might recognize, like strawberries,
and blueberries, but some are just simply inventive, like "moonberries" and "starberries".
Join the barefoot, romping good fun, but better have some berries on hand because
by the end of the book, you or your child will probably be craving some. Take
advantage of the mood and introduce several varieties to your child. With Jamberry
and a snack, you'll have a "berry" good time.
After this book:
- Visit your local farmers market during berry season and explore the many varieties of berries in different colors; maybe even pick your own golden raspberries or wild blueberries.
- Make a berry fruit salad, mixed berry sauce, or berry jam.
- Serve berries over yogurt, angel cake, waffles, French toast, or pancakes.
