Kids at Play - The Many Benefits
By: Kristine L. Bach, MS, RD, CDN

Kids that play get to enjoy the many benefits of physical activity, and this can instill a lifetime of healthy habits for them and the whole family.

Physical activity helps kids to:

  • Relieve stress.
  • Build self esteem.
  • Build muscles.
  • Build Bone Mass.
  • Decrease excess fat stores.
  • Improve Brain Power.
  • Improve balance and dexterity.
  • Defeat boredom and depression.
  • Feel happier.
  • Share and take turns.
  • Have patience and increase their socialization skills.

Being healthy is not just about eating right. It includes being active on a daily basis and doing things for yourself and your family. It could be as simple as kicking a ball around before dinner, playing basketball, or going somewhere with the family for an outdoor activity, such as a bike ride, hike, or run through the park.
